CalmCon 2022 Wrapped: Define What It Means to Thrive

Calm Collective recently held CalmCon, a 4-day hybrid mental health & well-being festival for Asia from 6 - 9 October 2022. The festival was held leading up to World Mental Health Day on 10 October, and included talks and workshops on numerous topics to help you achieve well-being at work, learn how to find calm by managing your mental health, and define what it means to thrive in your daily life.

This year, we engaged about 1100 individuals and featured 43 speakers of diverse backgrounds ranging from mental health professionals, business and government leaders, to people with lived experience. CalmCon also reached a total of 200+ communities and gained 60 event and community partners.

The programme was thoughtfully curated using feedback from last year’s CalmCon. While some of our community recognised their need to learn about how to manage one’s mental health struggles, many were also interested in practical ways to thrive mentally in their professional and personal lives. Calm Collective put together a third track called, “Defining Thrive” that shaped the final day of the festival. In this track, we covered other important elements that affect mental well-being like self-compassion, financial well-being, relational well-being, and thriving on purpose.

Here are the highlights from Day 4 of the Virtual Well-being Festival

Well-being Starts from Within

The stories we tell ourselves have a tendency to shape our lives. In our first talk, “Change Your Self-Talk, Change Your Life,” we were joined by Mdm Rahayu Mahzam, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Health and Law. She shared her lived experience of the effects of limiting beliefs about ourselves, and the importance of self-talk in changing the trajectory of our lives.

In our talk, “The Secret to Successful Relationships: Rupture & Repair,” our panellists shared their lived experiences in relationships and practical tips on how to navigate the grey areas. The talk highlighted the importance of working on ourselves and reparation in relationships to become successful.

Well-being for Your Whole Being

What better way to end the CalmCon virtual festival than to ask life’s greatest questions? We closed with a talk on, “How to Thrive on Purpose,” where our panellists discussed life, meaning, and purpose, and how can one leverage purpose to thrive in all aspects of their life.
