Thriving under pressure at work

Do you often feel overwhelmed, anxious, and like you’re barely keeping your head above water due to constant pressure at work? You're not alone. In today's fast-paced world, stress and pressure at work are an unavoidable reality.

The key to thriving under pressure isn't superhuman strength; it's having the right tools and support to respond productively. Navigating between productive pressure and debilitating stress is a crucial skill that can set you up for success in the face of workplace challenges.

Ways to help you handle pressure at work:

📋 Prioritise tasks. Break down overwhelming tasks into smaller, achievable ones and rank them in order of importance. You can gain composure and feel more in control as you check off these tasks on your list.

❤️ Take care of your health. Stress can lead to unhealthy habits, like unhealthy eating, lack of sleep or not exercising. You might feel as if you don’t have enough time to do these things, but taking care of yourself when you're under pressure can help improve energy and focus.

🙅 Set boundaries. It’s important to communicate your limits and manage the expectations of your co-workers so you don’t end up overworking yourself.

🔋 Recharge. After dealing with stressful situations, actively setting aside time for rest and recovery is a must-do. This can be anything from sleeping to going outside to get fresh air.

🫂 Seek support. You do not have to handle things on your own, it’s okay to ask for help. Reach out to your colleagues or boss for support. If you’re facing personal issues, talk to a friend or consider speaking with a therapist to work through them.
