Calm Conversations 1: Navigating grief and suicide loss with Alyssa

The loss of a loved one deeply affects the mental health of those around them. This is especially so when it comes to suicide, which complicates figuring out how to support yourself or seek support as you cope with your grief. Alyssa lost her husband, Tyler, to suicide nearly four years ago, after he was diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder. In our very first Conversation, she describes Tyler as a multifaceted person and shares her experience as a young widow: coping with his death, giving advice on how best to navigate grief through her lived experience, and the importance of seeking support in her ongoing journey to recovery.

Calm Conversations is a podcast series launched and facilitated by Calm Collective Asia. A means of sharing personal experiences, lessons, and advice, we speak to people from all walks of life about topics that are universally relevant yet often still taboo in the hope of normalising conversations about mental health.

Now available on Spotify and Google, you can tune in whenever and wherever. We hope that by listening in, you feel less alone, learn something new, and find the courage to continue these conversations with the people around you. Stay calm!
